
As part of PNU South Luzon’s commitment to ensure the continual professional development of its workforce and to strengthen workplace safety, the campus successfully wrapped up its Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training for Safety Officer I this October 29, 2025 at the Instructional Technology Center (ITeC.)
Facilitated by resource persons from the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Regional Extension Unit (REU) IV-A and the Training and Public Information Division (TPID), the training aimed to enhance the participants’ awareness of occupational hazards and equip them with the essential knowledge and skills to maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Engr. Marc Patrick Agno, Focal Person of OSHC-REU IV-A, facilitated the morning sessions, which covered the importance of occupational safety and health (OSH), accident causation theories, safety rules, and industrial hygiene and chemical safety. In the afternoon, Mr. Rey Jose Soriano, Officer-in-Charge of the OSHC TPID, led comprehensive discussions and workshops on Hazards Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC), workplace emergency preparedness, and OSH-related contingencies.
Through this official training session from OSHC, the select members of the PNUSL faculty and staff will be certified as completers of the BOSH for Safety Officer I Training, underscoring PNU South Luzon’s dedication to workplace safety standards and ensuring that every member of the community remains informed, alert, and ready to respond to workplace challenges.
This training forms part of and concludes the University Program for Gearing-up, Refining, and Advancing Employees’ Competencies (UPGRADE), a year-round series of training sessions aiming to enhance and capacitate the workforce towards providing excellent public service to our stakeholders.
