University President’s Campus Visit: Building Institutional Strength Through Interactive Talks and Assessment

Philippine Normal University South Luzon warmly welcomed Dr. Bert J. Tuga, University President, for a campus visit aimed at fostering dialogue with campus officials, faculty members, administrative staff, and students. With him was Dr. Celia M. Ilanan, Dean of the College of Alternative and Lifelong Learning in PNU Manila, and Dr. Mekasha Kassaye Gobaw, a visiting professor from the Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. The event provided an avenue for meaningful consultations and an opportunity for the university leadership to address key institutional concerns.
Dr. Tuga’s visit commenced with a tour of the campus where Dr. Leah Amor S. Cortez, Executive Director and Provost, presented campus facilities, especially the progress of the construction of the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) Innovation Building. This was quickly followed with the University President’s dialogue with PNU South Luzon campus officials at the Instructional Technology Center (ITeC). The meeting focused on strategic plans, academic initiatives, and administrative concerns, ensuring alignment with PNU’s broader institutional goals.
In the afternoon, a comprehensive dialogue with members of the faculty and administrative staff took place. The session, moderated by Engr. Maria Gracia R. Samson, President of the PNUSL Faculty Association, and Ms. Ma. Rhejoy O. Majarres, President of the PNUSL Administrative Employees Association, provided an opportunity for faculty members to raise academic and professional concerns and for the administrative staff to put forward operational issues and workplace improvements.
The day concluded with a visit to Brgy. Lalaguna and the local marshland, allowing Dr. Tuga and university officials to gain a deeper understanding of the campus environment and its surrounding community.
