As part of PNU South Luzon’s efforts to institutionalize an effective and systematic records management practices among all stakeholders of the campus, the Records Unit in collaboration with the Human Resource Management and Development Unit (HRMDU) hosted the Awareness Training on RA 9470: Practice of Records and Archives Management on September 18-19, 2025, at its Instructional Technology Center (ITeC.)
Led by Ms. Rodora Vinzon and Mr. Abad Palenzuela, Jr. of the Archives and Records Management Unit (ARMU) of PNU Manila, members of the campus administration, faculty, and administrative staff delved into a two-day series of lectures and workshops revolving around Republic Act 9470 or the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) Act of 2007, a landmark legislation which regulates and provides guidance on how public records should be treated throughout its lifecycle. Highlighting the importance of compliance with pertinent laws and regulations on public records management, the participants were able to familiarize themselves with the NAP General Records Disposition Schedule and PNU’s Records Disposition Schedule which mandates the retention period of records of any time and when should a record be properly disposed of.
To culminate the training session, the participants presented their respective offices’ filled-out Records Inventory and Appraisal Form where they were able to identify and list down the records that are available to them together with their pertinent details such as quantity, location, and retention periods.
This training session forms part of the series of quarterly capacity-building programs under UPGRADE: University Program for Gearing-up, Refining, and Advancing Employees’ Competencies aiming to capacitate campus teaching and non-teaching personnel with relevant skills and knowledge to be able to provide quality and future-ready public service.
